What to expect
Join Shelter to take on a 21km/13.1m walk taking in some of Shropshire’s biggest hills.
This is a spectacular challenge on the Shropshire Hills - one of Britain's best kept secrets. With heathland, panoramic views and sweeping valleys, our walk will take us up to the highest point of Pole Bank (512 meters), taking in Haddon Hill and Bodbury Hill before dropping back down into the pretty market town of Church Stretton.
We'll be joined throughout the walk by first-aid certified guides who will do all the navigating, leaving you free to immerse yourself in this incredible experience.
Once registered, Shelter's Community Fundraising team will be in touch to advise how to set up a fundraising page and share final details about the event. Most participants reach their fundraising target through a combination of donations from friends, family, and colleagues. Our fundraising team will be in touch regularly to support you every step of the way!

Join the fight for home
When you take on a challenge with Team Shelter, you're joining the fight for housing justice.
Our experts provide advice and support for people at the sharp end of the housing emergency. Thanks to fundraisers like you, last year:
- 16,721 households received support from our emergency helpline
- 13,130 households visited our local hubs for advice
- 4,950 households worked with our legal advice services
We stand with renters facing eviction. We call out systemic racism in the housing sector. And we campaign for long-term change that will tackle the root causes of homelessness.

What clothing or equipment will I need?
We will send out a full kit list ahead of the event, but please ensure you have comfortable footwear and suitable clothing.
Shall we bring food and drink?

Will there be toilets on the route?
No, but there are public toilets at the start of the route.
How long will it take?
On average, the walk takes between 7-8 hours, depending on the overall speed of the group.
How do I gain sponsorship?
Most participants reach their fundraising target through a combination of donations from friends, family, and colleagues. For advice and support to get going, please contact Fiona_Conn@shelter.org.uk
What will we do if the weather is bad?
We endeavour to continue the walk regardless, so be prepared for all weather! However, if we deem the weather to be dangerous, we will postpone the event.
Can children take part in the walk?
Unfortunately, not. This event is 18+ due to health and safety reasons.
