Walk for Home London

My walk for home

I’m taking part in Shelter’s Walk for Home this December, because I believe that home is everything. ❤️

Across the UK, far too many people are facing the devastating effects of the housing emergency. Shelter works tirelessly to defend the right to a safe home and to support people through some of the toughest moments of their lives.

That’s why I’m stepping out to raise money and make a difference.

Whether it’s enjoying the twinkling lights of London’s landmarks, walking through the heart of Manchester, or coming together in Bristol, this event is about community, solidarity and standing up for people facing homelessness this winter.

Every step we take, and every pound raised helps Shelter continue their vital work.

If you can, please support my fundraising or share this page—it really means a lot.

Why I'm walking

Wednesday 21st Oct

For the third year in a row, I’ll be walking for Shelter in the Walk for Home and I’m asking for your support again.

Last year I said the housing crisis in England was alarming. A year on, it’s worse.

A record 177,530 children in England are now living in temporary accommodation, up 5% in a year. Across the country, a record 135,580 households are in the same position, up 3.6%.

Behind those numbers are children doing homework on a bed in a noisy shared room, and parents who don’t know where they’ll be living next month. At Christmas, many of these families won’t have a home of their own to celebrate in.

This is a link to Iona's story: Iona is 9 years old, autistic and non-verbal. Her family was in an unsafe flat that left them isolated for days at a time, but Shelter’s legal team challenged the council’s decision, and moved then family into a suitable home and helped ensure Iona is able to attend an SEN school.

Any donation, big or small, helps Shelter support families facing homelessness this winter and beyond. Thank you for helping make “home” a reality for those who need it most. 🏡
